Breast Cancer


Cancer is a condition where cells have lost the normal control mechanism, so that the growth of abnormal, rapid and uncontrolled. Breast cancer is cancer of breast tissue.

According to World Health Organization (WHO) it is included in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) with code number 17. This is the most common type of cancer that affects women. Men can also develop breast cancer, although less likely than 1 in 1000.


The cancer cells are formed from normal cells in a complex process called transformation, which consists of initiation and promotion stages. At the initiation stage there is a change in the genetic material of cells that provoke the cells become malignant. Changes in the genetic material of cells is caused by an agent called carcinogens, which can include chemicals, viruses, radiation (radiation) or sunlight. At the stage of promotion, a cell that has undergone initiation will become malignant. Cells that have not passed the initiation stage will not be affected by the sale. Because it takes several factors for malignancy (a combination of a sensitive cell and a carcinogen).

- Women who have been stricken with cancer in one breast
- Never breastfed
- Early first period
- Older age
- Giving birth by a woman more than 30 y.o
- Late menopause
- Race
- Alcoholic
- Heredity
- Family history for cancer
- Obesity
- Radiation
