Diabetes Foot Pain


Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the most common chronic diseases in the world. The number of cases continues to increase.

If it is uncontrolled, diabetes can lead to acute and chronic complications. Acute complications of diabetes such as diabetic ketoacidosis and hyperosmolar hyperglycemia status, whereas chronic
complications such as disturbances microvascular, macrovascular, and other organ disorders that are nonvaskular, including neuropathy. In chronic complications, duration of disease factors also affect the incidence of complications, as well as poor diabetes control
This disease can be prevented with early detection of foot disorders in people with high risk.

The characteristics of the foot at high risk are:
a. Skin rigid, dry, scaly and cracked.
b. Leg hair thinning.
c. Deformities and nail colors such as nail thickened, brittle, and grow into (ingrowing nail).
d. Callus, especially in the feet.
e. Changes in shape of the fingers and soles of the feet and leg bones were protruding.
f. Scars or a history of finger amputation.
g. Foot numbness, tingling, or can not feel pain.
h. The leg that feels cold
